Christmas Breakfast, 2011

24 Dec

While Mike’s family lives in other states, me family is all here, and for the last few years, we’ve hosted various permutations of people at our house for holiday meals.  We had eight people over, plus the three of us, for Thanksgiving, and decided that this Christmas, we would keep it low-key and not do a big dinner.  And we’re sticking to that… instead, having people over for breakfast.  How’d that happen?!?

(Here’s how it happened: my brother, who always has to work on the holidays, and his girlfriend said they could come by on Christmas morning, so I invited my parents and grandmother, uncle and cousin to come, too.  Since they’ll be here in the morning, it only seemed right we put out some food to feed them.  Normally Mike does our holiday cooking, but I decided I’d be in charge this time.  We’ll see how that works out.)

Here’s the menu for the meal:

  • Cranberry Lemon Tea Cake
  • Baked Oatmeal
  • Spinach Mushroom Bacon Mini-Quiches
  • Cinnamon Spice Biscotti, for dipping in coffee, which Mike will have to make because I don’t make coffee (read about my adventure preparing it here)
  • Cinnamon Rolls (Mike usually makes them from scratch, but we bought them from Costco this time)
  • Hash browns
  • and bacon (of course- it’s in the tagline of the blog, after all)
