Back to Reality

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Does anyone else remember the song by Soul 2 Soul (I think) with the chorus that went “back to life, back to reality, back to the here and now again” or something like that?  That’s how I feel now that I’m back from vacation.  It’s tough to go from being waited on hand and foot and taking naps whenever you feel tired to the grind of work.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but vacationing is pretty awesome!

The exciting news of the day is that I managed to get my independent study signed off on, so I’m officially enrolled in six units.  In addition to “History, Society and Ecology of the Baja Peninsula,” I’ll be working on a paper that will serve as the basis of my thesis, “Mexico Through the Eyes of American Print Media.”  At this point, my idea is to compare coverage of Mexico by five different papers from various geographic locations to see what their framing of Mexico says about U.S.-Mexican relations.

The other thing that’s fun is that tomorrow is my birthday.  I’ll be the big 2-7.  Woo hoo!  I’m officially entering the beginning of my late 20s.  Ha ha.

Have a drink for me!
